i am laying here next to you watching you sleep, morning light pours in through the window, and i think to myself – slow down, you’re growing so fast, please stay little. no matter how many pictures i take of you, no matter how many letters i write to you, i can never experience these moments again. before you open your eyes i say a little prayer that someday, when you hold your own child, you will have an understanding of the love i feel for you. that way, this moment never has to end. it can live on through you, my only daughter.
