when you pick up the camera and start shooting while she playing because the rest of the day is going to be so busy, and you’ve committed yourself to taking a picture a day for a year, and you’re going to see it through dammit. but then she looks at you like this. you put the camera down and all the noise and confusion fades into the distance. from a quiet place in the back of your mind you remember the conversation two years ago when he said, “we should have one more.” and now it suddenly makes sense to you why she was always faceless in your dreams when you were pregnant with her–it would have been impossible to imagine such a beautiful and sentient being.
